City of Long Beach 6-16

Went out on the City of Long Beach last Friday out of Long Beach Marina. Skipper was Mike. The water was rough with a strong current so we hit the sculpin first. Had a lot of big dines, so I was wishing we would not stop til we got to Catalina. Alas, we did not make it that far. Scuplin bite was wide open for those with squid. I don't know why, but there was live squid in the bait tank but they didn't break it out until we went for sand bass. Anyway, I had limits of sculpin because my neighbor shared some of his frozen squid after he limited out. Sorry, no pictures. Sculpin just don't get me excited!!

We then took off for the sand bass. As I said, the current was really strong and the water was rough. One guy gat a sand bass, but that was about it. Wasted some huge dines for nothing.

The afternoon 1/2 day out of Long Beach Marina if the bite is good, otherwise we may head up to GVL instead.
I will know for sure by Tuesday night after we watch the fish counts for a few days.

I'm getting on COLB next Monday. I'm with you, sure hope this bite picks up a bit. I would even love to go out and limit on sculpies on 10# baitcaster, but just no sand bass for me.

I was out on Saturday and the sculpin were pretty much wide open on squid. Some big ones came up as well. The water has cooled off so the sculpin has been the only hot bite the last few days. Water will hopefully warm back up another 6 degrees this week and turn the bite back on. Good luck out there guys!

yeah scuplins are not too fun ne more, i was gonna go on yesterday with my middle school teacher( he loves to fish) but knowing the sandbass shut down and the boat was gonna chase scuplin all day i decided not to go. i have too much scuplin in my freezer and everytime i go, i limit out in 5-10 mins and then it get kinda boring. i cant wait til spawn.
