Balboa 6/30

Tried out Balboa Island today for the fist time. I took a walk around the entire island to scope it out. I did not try the bridge at that canal because I didn't have a net to get any fish over the sides. There was a great looking bridge on the North end that connects to the mainland but it was not fishable from the shore. I started casting near docks and boats not thinking I would have much luck. After a cast onto a dock and snaging a moaring bouy I managed to catch 3 spotties and 2 small halis. Not a bad day considering how little time I spent actually fishing. I would really like to "hook up" with some of you more experienced guys to see if I could learn some new tricks.

Hey Yuckster, glad you got a chance to get down there and check it out. Nice job on the fish. Sounds like you got it down. Those of us who go down there pretty much do the same in working our way around and hitting all the dock areas. Last week at the canal area the tide was so high that water was coming through a hole in the wall. I was thinking about heading down there this evening but got lazy. We are usually down there on Tues. You should try to head down there.

I plan on being there. How is parking on the island? I usually park over at Funzone around 5pm and pay $1 for the meter. Then I take the ferry for $1.20 round trip. It works for me because I come from HB down the PCH. Anyway I will look for you, Nick. Later

Ive done both. Parking on the Island usually isnt too bad. I will be down there about 4:30-4:45. Maybe we can meet at the Funzone around 5pm and take the ferry over. That way if anyone else wants to go that hasnt been down there can meet there as well. I figure we can fish the most productive areas and depending on the tide maybe the other side. I will pm you my cell number.

Last time Eric (Crash714) CST and I were coming back on the ferry we kind of joked about trolling and the capt overheard us and said he had a few guys who were coming back on the ferry late night tried some trolling. I was about 2am and if I recall he said he took them over a couple of times but they didnt catch anything. Although the one time Morgan (Baybassboy) hooked up as we were waiting for the ferry.
