Corona Del Mar Kelp Beds 8/4

My buddy Sergio and I went spearfishing in the kelp beds of Corona Del Mar. Visibility was 10-15 ft. Surge was strong. I know this may be a fish and line type site. But I figured what the hey!

Anyways, here's a pic of the monster sand bass Sergio caught. The beast was posted up in his coral cave before the ambush.

We also caught a decent sized Sargo. Good flaky white meat!

Enjoy,

Zeke

Sick, I have been looking into spear fishing. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

Not really my style but nice fish!

I'd probably enjoy spear fishing if there was a way to catch and release.

The only way to do that is to release the fish into hot oil and wrap in a tortilla.

There is Chris, it's called taking a photograph, LOL...if you really like, get a remote cable, mount your camera on the end of a Hawaiian sling instead of a sharp tip, and put the camera in the fish's face and snap the pic...otherwise, a fish fry is in someone's future.

you know you can free swim and tickle the fish...I used to do that before I knew that fins were available :P

Oh, and if anyone wants to free swim south OC, drop me a line if it's on a weekend, or late in the day on a weekday...I used to SCUBA and still have my ABC gear but never get a chance to use it...a couple of people I know have expressed interest but never follow up.

Spearfishing is cool with me as long as the fish is not wasted. And I do mean "NOT" wasted. Everything eaten to the bone.
