Capt. Hooks Landing - Channel Is. Harbor (Oxnard, Ca)

Spoke to Steve Volaski today (owner of the Coroloma and the Lenbrook). The Coroloma currently runs out of Ventura Sportfishing (Ventura Harbor). Steve just purchased Capt. Hooks Landing in the Channel Is. Harbor. He is doing a revamping of the Landing to make it the premier landing in the Ventura county area. He's looking for mostly 3/4 day boats that want a good home at Capt. Hooks Landing. When boats like the Pacific Dawn are not in San Diego....it's at Capt. Hooks in Oxnard.

He's asked for our help. If any of you guys have any leads to any charter operations that want to take advantage of fishing the Channel Is National Parks and the amazing White Seabass fishery that it is, and want a good home. PM me and give e the name of the vessel and I'll approach them. Captain Hooks was a great landing, and now I hope it gets to be the best! Steve Volaski definitely knows what he's doing.

The Coroloma is one of the best boats out of Ventura County.

When it revamps we should get a charter out of there.

Yeah, Greg has the Aloha Spirit. It looks like a pretty cool boat too.

We don't have to wait for it to revamp for that. We can do it now. or should I say after the Deuces Wild trip

So what boats is Steve specificlly looking for? Is he looking to get rid of the Aloha Spirit? I have been on the Aloha Spirit, one hell of an operation, I think it would be a mistake to loose that from any landing.

He's not getting rid of the Aloha Spirit; he just wants to add more vessels.

CAPT HOOKS update

O.K., just spoke to Steve Volaski (Coroloma)again today.

His deal (paperwork) is done with Capt.Hooks Sportfishing, but the escrow won't close for another 20 days. As of right now he's still fully running the Coroloma out of Ventura Sportfishing (which he owns also) but the Coroloma is the only Boat Running out of Ventura Harbor (for those of you who have never taken it, it's a really good boat).

The Boats that will be running out of Captain Hooks Sportfishing are as follows:

Lenbrook (down for Coast Guard inspection)up n running soon

Ellie M (down for Coast Guard inspection) up n running soon

New Bluefin (Operating) good outer islands boat

Maceo (Operating) solid 6 pak boat

Aloha Spirit (operating) great new 3/4 day boat.

Hook Up wants to get involved with Steve and really do what we can to promote Capt. Hooks and the Coroloma (currently out of Ventura Sportfishing). There's nothing like fishing the Channel Is. especially during the summer for WSB. Guys, let's support Steve in his new venture as much as we can! It's gonna be huge!

One more thing:

Steve is talking to the "Caliber" (I think it's out of Newport), about making C.Hooks it's new landing/home....what do you guys think of the "Caliber"? ANyone here ever take it out?

Remeber that the Pacific Dawn is out of Capt. Hooks Sportfishing too (Oct - May) then hits Diego for the Summer.

That's because Greg Captained the boat up until he bought the A Spirit.

New news: There's a whole new line-up coming, and very impressive I might ad. I won't reveal it just yet, but I was impressed to say the least. And not just seasonal visits either.......these new boats are going to be at Hooks all year 'round. I can say it's some boats from Newport......San Diego .........and Santa Cruz.

Volaski is going to put the New Blue Fin over at Ventura Sportfishing (to try to totally revive that landing) and bring the Coroloma back from Ventura to Hooks as one of the main 3/4 day boats there. The Lenbrook is more than likely going to be pulled out of the water and totally revamped...that's an awesome boat, and when it's done should be one of the better boats in the Channel Is. operations.

The Spirit is probably going to bounce unfortunately(sad news to hear). THough we'll still have alot of good boats (some of the same and some new). Steve Volaski is going to run a clean and very fair landing. There's going to be alot of positive positive changes to Captn Hooks. Some people don't wanna coincide with the positive changes and so their only choice is to leave unfortunately.

Captain Hooks is going to be a force to reckoned with, a real clean and well oiled operation.
