Use of Sand Crabs

Are there any beaches in So Cal that prohibit using sand crabs as bait?? Including San Diego area too.

Thanks

The sand crab union is working hard to have some beaches closed
to the use of live sand crab as bait, I guess they don't like it
but u can still use them.

VERY good bait for the surf, as stated hard to find. You might still be able to buy a sand crab saien at some bait shops. The best to use are the soft shell ones, however its about a 10 to 1 ratio between the two. Use to run the hook thru the little digger in front then up into the shell and out so it will stay on. GOOD LUCK

Just to inform you......Do not take more than 50 sand crabs at a time. The DFG has placed a 50 crab limit on them.

You can find some crab on the jetty rocks. You can use squid as small bait on hook, and lift the test line down toward crab. Then you can lift it up and put a crab in the bucket.

Good luck!

I think that would be a different type of crab Rambo. Sand crabs live in the sand, maybe those are rock crabs?

Rambo, those are Pee crabs. Lol

Sandcrabs are hard to find where sandy shores contain alot of broken shells and rocks. The sand in HB most likely has them, in Mexico they get HUGE.

Watch out for the big ones they pack a wallop.
