My Two Day Charter Aug 24-26 2008
Hi All,
Well the 2 day charter was pretty cool,
The first day I was up for the JackPot but was under about 2 pounds I had a 28lb Albi, the JackPot was a 30# YellowFin Tuna, Ugh! Ok.... either way good fishing..... there were a total 23 angler's aboard the Indian, Capt. Chris Randal knows what he is doing, really, the plan of the first day was to go SouthWest about 70 miles and swoop under all the boats Fishing out of San Diego, that was a good plan, we looked for the Big Ones, and it worked.... We were able to Boat Big YellowFin, BlueFin and Albi's all in the 20-30lb range total fish the first day was 20... I thought it was good in comparison to what the other boats were coming in with at the Landing as we saw waiting there....
My Fish story for the Trip, on the troll one poll hit, we stop all rush the bait tanks I am trying to cast, all were in the way so I drop my Pink/White Mega Bait stright down as the boat Slows and I got a big hit, it was my YellowFin... that was such a fight the Yellowfin bent up my Lucky Mega Bait.... No one could believe I got that hit by dropping it straight Down next to the boat in the corner...
The Second Day, was the second half of the Plan, Patty Hopp 30 miles farther SouthWest of San Diego, So we were about 100 miles South West of San Diego, We didn't get in to the Landing till right at 8:30 pm.... We landind over at total of 100 on the second day,a combination of Yellow Tail, Dodo's on the second day.
All in All it was a good trip, the first day was slow going we caught good size fish the second day lots of action with all the Dodo's and Yellow's..
I gave away lots of prizes, Diawa sponsored a Saltist 50, Seeker sponsored an American Series CT 270 Rod, little Customizing from Young's Tackle, One of the guy's Sponsored a Sealine Reel give away, Youngs tackle offer 2 cool-T's and Gave away 10 grab Bag Hooks and lures... Pretty Cool
That is it for now I will add more pictures later..... it may take a week, tomorrow I go in for surgery at Long Beach Memorial.... Ugh!
Happy Fishing to all and to all a Good Night... Ho Ho Ho...
Gaff.... aka Alan
Ps. Walt thanks for the advise.. I told the guys about your info you gave me before the trip... it worked for all.... again thanks....

Alan,
Your trip did great, over 120 of a mixed bag for 2 days is outstanding. Chewed up your Megbait did that Yellow Fiin.... that must have been fun. Thoes YF are so powerful its hard to describe unless you have caught them. I keep telling guys that if they take one Tuna trip they will go home and burn their Swim Baits. LOL!!
Am impressed by your ability to squeeze sponsors for primo give aways. A Saltist 50 and an American CT270 Rod are really nice pieces of equiptment.
Beautiful Pics, your weather looked identical to my trip. Flat seas, over cast, mild temp. with a slight breeze.... perfect.
And good luck with the surgery.

Right On.. Walt...
Yeah that Yellow Fin was a fight..... Kinda got the Captain mad, he was manning the Gaff, and missed so kept the line tight instead of free spooling after the gaff.... Ugh.... I didn't want to loose that guy.......
The sea's were calm... reminded me of your pict's just before my trip, I was hoping for calm seas like your trip...
About the sponsors, I have been able to meet the guy's who make the dicisions and really don't looking for the big give away till they ask... and push the point that there are teenagers on the trip and building anglers for tomorrow what a great platform to present there company.... etc..

Yeah, I haven't fished as much as I wanted this past summer... am hoping for a break through soon....
Sometimes it is tough to run down and get my camer in the heat of things, I just don't want to miss anything.... But it all works....
Cool
Gaff.

its all good brother.
what i use to do in the past ( long range ) i paid or tipped a decky to hold my camera.
when im hooked the pictures are taken.lol
now i have about 4 good albums to show my grand kids, soon.
overall, the yellowfins can cause havoc and destroy your gear, if not prepared.
walt is an accomplished offshore specialist. just so perfect to get beat,n up by a yellowfin..........just love, n it.
key reminder: freespool imediatly after gaffing.
no tension on line and step back a few feet.
let the deckys land the mofo.
