be on the lookout for stolen van

actually semi carjacked according to sgpd. this morning one of my workers got carjacked by a mexican as he was unloading the company vehicle. this guy had balls, not 5 feet from the back door, my driver was in the back of the van removing some stuff in the van, and he saw the guy run up, jump in, speed off hilarious till remember its the company car . was a POS van and wouldn't fetch 1000 at trade in but still not cool. 2 days ago i just put in 600$ worth in parts/labor.

Anyone see a silver chrysler caravan, with flares above the wheel banged up, yellow scraping one side LP# 4UNL455 please call the authorities.
jacked in San Gabriel

everyone take out your keys from the ignition when away from vehicle.

My father-in-law had the same thing happen to him while he was working. He had his field tuck on while he was checking water. A truck pulled off the road and the passanger jumped in drove off. He had no chance to catch the guy. Best of luck on finding that thing. His company never found their property.

Did he wave a big Mexican flag as he drove off? I'm just wondering how exactly you knew his descent. Considering the number of actual Mexicans in California (illegal/legal), he may likely have been Mexican.

I just question why individuals immediately profile and lump in the entire South American population as "Mexican." Though I am in indeed Mexican I have been labeled as Salvadorean, Brazilian, Peruvian and even Venezuelan...go figure. That is why instead of labeling, I usually use a more generic term and refer to people as Hispanic (from Hispania) or Latinos.

I don't mean to be annal or defensive, but I'm sure Asians feel the same way when labeled incorrectly (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Philippines etc).

On a lighter note, Good Luck with your truck and hope you retrieve it intact. It's sh|tty this type of stuff happens. Perhaps new company policy should be to remove keys when you remove yourself from all vehicles. In case you don't get your van back, consider LoJack for your next truck/van. Keeps insurance costs down too.

Oh, and how the heck does SGPD consider it Semi-Hijacked?
