My friend sent me this E mailof this shark caught off WA. Ocean Shores is one of my favorite places. I use to go there all the time. Now it seems a little like a Jaws movie. Someone PM me their Email so I can foward this. I can't figure it out.

OCEAN SHORES, WA
While the ocean vessel 'Dawn Raider' was commercial fishing for dogfish, this Great White was hooked in the mouth but only resisted slightly for 15 minutes before it came up alongside the boat to have a look; long enough for one of the crew members to slip a rope around it's tail !!! 'And that's when the s**t hit the fan!!. The Shark took off towing the 42 foot fishing boat backwards through the water at about 7 Knots. Just like in JAWS, the boat was taking on water over the stern and the crew watched in horror as the shark would actually jump completely out of the water at times. This went on for an hour before the shark finally drowned.
She weighed in at 1035 LBS. It is suspected she followed a weak El Nino current into local waters in search of food. Although mid 60 deg. water is considered ideal for these sharks, the larger ones can tolerate water in the low 50s.

Yea definately is a Mako. Great whites are grey while makos have a blue tint to them.

You know its funny, last night when Sonic sent me the email with the pics I looked at them and thought the same thing in that it was a Mako. Granted they both belong to the makerel shark family. I was looking at the mouth and noticed the jagged teeth rather than trianglular as in the GW. If they had propped up the nose you would be able to tell. The 3rd tooth from center on each side of a GW is slightly smaller than the rest. I was trying to get a better look at the tail shape also but hard to tell. The counter shading looks a little different than what I would expect on a GW. Wish I could see the pectorals better as some GW will have a small dark patch I will have to look at the pics in the email from Sonics.
