Eastern Sierra Dreams
Ever since Sean put that damn picture in his signature I have not been able to get the Eastern Sierras out of my mind. I usually dont start day dreaming about that area until the begining of April as I am usually quite busy fishing locally but with the weather the way its been lately...
The last three weeks I have been watching every movie I can find that was filmed in the Sierras (I suggest you find a movie called "Paint Your Wagon" starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin) and I have some old tapes of my hero Huell Howser from his "California's Gold" PBS television series to watch too. I have also been searching the net for pictures of the Eastern Sierra regon as well, I do this every year but usually not this early into the New Year. If we are lucky and have a mild Spring the water levels in the "E.S." should remain good into August because of the snow pack, hopefully I will get to go up there more than once this Summer. Also hopefully Tim Alper has fixed his New Zeland mudsnail problem and will not have any limits placed on him by the DFG again. (also this year I hope no deer commit sucide in front of my rental car again) Anyway if anyone makes plans for a trip up there please POST IT, I would very much like to tag along if possible as most of my friends do not fish. It allready looks like I might be going to the Mammoth area in early August to meet up with my sisters family and fish with my brother in law so now I just need to plan trips in May, June and July also.
Hopefully starting next Thursday I will get back into the swing of things and hit "L.N.L." at least every other week until the end of their season.I am also really looking forward to making some day or overnight trips up to the San Bernardino mountins and fishing Green Valley, Jenk's Lake and the Santa Ana River this Spring & Summer.

I have only fished the Owen's in the Spring and Summer, I would like to see it this time of year when its low. We should plan a short overnight trip or something and fish the Owen's and Pleasant Valley. I am also thinking of going to the Kern river for a weekend trip in the early Spring. I am going to "L.N.L." Saturday and next Thursday so I am sure my fever will subside a little but by Spring I am going to really need a trip.

SIGH!
Its getting close to that time of year, and I'm going nuts thinking about it. I have been looking up every website I can find looking for pictures. I dont know what bugs me more, not having any reports or updates to read or having the reports but not being up there to do anything about it.

I have three different replies to your long a$$, but very interesting and heart felt message:
1.) I thought I was the only Huell Howser fan in the world. Man, I love watching his PBS show. You've got tapes of some of his shows?? I tell anyone if you want to learn about California's history, vacation spots, intruiging citizens, California Land Marks, etc. watch Huell Howser. I'm feeling ya on that one.
2.) Where the hell have you been??? " If someone is planning a trip up to the Sierras please post it" Man we've been planning a trip up to my condo in Mammoth to fish the whole area (as much as possible in 3 days) probably in June, and have posted it a few times!! You're more than welcome to make up part of the crew, ya know?
3.) Me, CST and Local Rookie where just talkin' about Green Valley Lake and Jenk's lake; neither of them have I fished. But I'm very interested in going there. I love the SB Mountains area....if you can't get to the Sierras, that area is so reminicent, it's the best substitute for sure!

I float tube Jenk's lake and hike the Santa Ana River at least twice a month during the Spring and summer and I only got to hit Green Valley lake once last year but I plan on going back. Jenk's is probibly by absolute favorate lake to float tube in Southern California, tons of trout and georgous scenery and the freakin Boyscouts, church groups and swimmers dont show up until July/August.
