Vegas (Mead), Here We Come!
Alright fellas, I'm packing as I write and my GPS is programmed for Vegas. We leave tonight!!! I should be on the road by 11pm and hopefully don't hit too rough a wind and Snow on the way.
I'm gone for the week for Business/Family/Family Tip. Between all that, I hope to squeeze in at least one day of FISHING. My intention is to hit Lake Mead. With the weather as windy as I hear it is now, I don't know if I'll be renting a boat or not.
With that said, if anyone's got any pointers/tips/spots, I'd be most appreciative to hear them.
I'm taking a rod or four, with lines ranging from 4# to 30#. I've got plastics, hard baits, swimbaits, you name it. It's open season on whatever they've got and hopefully what they want, I've got!
Feel free to post away, as I will have internet access and check in regularly.

The boat marina has some nice carp, and a few stripers that you can see right from shore, use popcorn for bait.

Nothing yet fellas (Spook). It's almost 7am & it's windy as hell outside. I'm trying to convince the wife to come along. Truck's loaded! It's just too warm in here & too cold & windy out there. The winds are gusting at like 30mph!!!
I'll be back with pix later. Skunk or not, pix will be available.

Day 1: SKEEEEEE-UNK!
Well fishing hasn't been too good out here for me. So far I've got a big old fat Nevada born SKUNK on my from yesterday's outing at Lake Mead. My wife & I arrived around 8AM and it was hella' windy! We tried the "pier" which wasn't much of a pier and it was 80% wet because the waves were coming is that hard. After about an hour and a half and two farmed fish for my wife we decided to head out because she felt like the pier was going to "break." Women...agh...you can't fish with them and you can't fish without them...bitching!
Anyhow, we hit another cove for NOOOO action. Not a nibble in miles. That was the end of the day. I got about 3 hours of fishing and then we decided to play tourists and did some sightseeing.
I would like to have posted some pix of our catch, but there were none. But I did pick up some pictures that I know some of you will drool over (DODO!). I hope you enjoy them. I'm heading out there again today with the kids. Wish us luck!

They ranged from 1-10 lbs. Most were around 2 lbs.
It was a trip watching them so close & so docile. I so wanted to gaff 'em but the wife wouldn't let me.
Too bad we couldn't fish off the dock or else it would have been WFO!!!

You should us a float tube, Garlic butter popcorn works real good. I bet you thought I was joking about using popcorn. I've seen some really big striper's up there. I've never fished there, but would bet, that if you pulled a good lure through the carp, when you see a striper, it should jump on it. A large lure should keep the carp away. Early in the morning before there full of popcorn.
