sorry guys still too lazy to post all the reports from oregon but ill have to make thsi post.
global you probably know this place called LEX's LANDING. we rented a boat and trolled using the luhr jehnsen rogue rig with anchovys and got a bunch of hits but no fish. we decided to go in since it was getting pretty dark and i just decided to try one more time and got a hit and fought him for about 5 minutes and hes gone. rig and all. i see all these 3ft. long salmon jumping everywhere and i hear a rattle. that sob took my rig, jumps, and laughs at me. well anyways im pretty pissed off about that so next day we head up to LOBSTER CREEK since we heard that was really good. i was using the HOT SHOT and KWIKFISH from luhr jehnsen with little anchovy pieces on them and we barely got any hits. soon we see them all jumping and some guy down the creek next to his RV is going like "SON OF A ..... NOW THEY COME?!?!" i guess he was fishing all day with no luck. well for about half an hour theres nothing and all the salmon are jumping and just drifting with their fins out and laughing their ###'s off at us. so we decide to go to indian creek and my dad tries a krocodile and he actually gets one and it doesnt seem to fight that much but he reels it in easy and boom. it was a steelhead im guessing? looked more like some kind of tuna or something though. anyways my dad grabs his mouth and holds him for a while and takes out the hook while im looking for that stupid camera. i left my frickin camera in the car... so we decided to just release. he was out of the water maybe 30 seconds? anyways we have to try to revive him so i just tell my dad to fish and i go out in the water and pull him back and forth and finally he shoots out. by the time hes gone my dad gets another hit and reels it in again. looks like the same fish only this ones top fin was almost jetblack. wtf?! now seriously im not making this up but i think its some sort of steelhead? looked kind of like a rainbow trout but those are steel head so i guess its a steel head.. its tail looked like a tunas though...
anyways we head to the motel and next day this nice lady and her husband tell us that she works for the indian creek hatchery and they just put them all in a place i forgot what its called... .... well anyways he head there and see everyone. and i mean everyone. looks like entire gold beach came. well their all launching their boats and see them jumping and their like "that ones mine yeh hear!"
me and my dad just walk over to a nice little spot and we fish for maybe about 3 hours then we have to head back down.... im saying DAMN in my head and seeing all these fish jumping in front of me and my lure(kwikfish). i try all the colors and hotshot and this lure called crippled herring and everything. couldnt get them to bite. i bet if someone tossed a net there they wouldve bagged maybe 120 lb's of meat. that lady earlier ago wasnt allowed to fish here because shes with the stocking program and she tossed the net already and got 17 chinook salmon. maybe about 1 1/2 to 3 ft. each she said. so she marked them down and released them. well we decide to head home but then this guy fights a huge 3 1/2 ft. chinook and he shows me hes using this fat yellow and black fly. from the looks of it im guessing that thats the wooly bugger thing. he gives me 2 of them and i try them out and get about 3 gulps but it would stick. i try out this BAITMATE thing i got at walmart and i had 2 fish on . the first one was barely what i would call a salmon. it was only maybe a foot. now my second fish took it right after another tried to swallow it. you could see them just opening their mouths for that thing. well i hooked the other one and this was maybe 2 1/2 ft. long and i decide to release it.
besides 2 days before we came to the rogue we went to some place forgot where its called. there was this kid and his dad. his dad owned the place and his son always went fishing. he said they got 17 chinook that day and im like BS. (in my head) and we decided to take a look at them and they were huge. we rent a boat the next day after camping and we used hot shots and spinners. we hook up with alot but none on the boat. we decide to use these little puffy balls and we started getting fish. we maybe pulled up 13 total. 7 for sure were over 20 lb.s and the other 6 were only about 10 - 15 lb. i was so happy. we saw these 2 indian smoked salmon places and asked how they smoked it and stuff and they decided to do ours...for a fee. lol anyways they were really nice and we have a bunch of smoked salmon at home noW!
ps. this was maybe 2 hours before oregon. (time of traveling i mean)
sorry about it being so long guys
