Help

Does anyone have any info on flyfishing for carp. Just need a idea on what flys to use...? Read a report on another board of someone having some luck at a local lake and decided it would be fun to flyfish with my second pole for some carp...Would be shocked if i caught one flyfishing but even if i don't catch anything it will be good to practice my casting.
thanks for any info u can give me. I'll post a report on how things turned out..

Thanks for the suggestion demented. We will have to see if color makes a difference. I'll be trying different colored wolly buggers.

I ended up hitting apollo at 7 am and it was ok fishing with corn. All told caught 9 carp(all very small 4 to 5 ins.) but they do hit hard for being such a small fish..Really would enjoy connecting with a bigger carp.. on the fly no luck with carp but was able to catch 3 blue gills and my smallest fish ever on a fly( 1" minnow) all in all a nice morning.. got very hot and stopped fishing at 1030..

davidg from global fisher fly fishes for carp. he chums the area with bread to get the carp boiling on the surface than casts out a piece of sponge soaked in corn juice to catch em.

Sorry Eric for such a late reply, I didnt see the post for some reason. If you need some Carp fishing information you can view some here: http://www.globalfisher.com/phpbb/vi...5fa49c62838414

Also I found an article a while back and posted it on my site and I think here also but here is a link to the article:
Fly Fishing for Carp

I tried doing some fly fishing for them in Oregon and had no luck. We went over to this lake that was close to Portland, Oregon. It was like Alaska in late evening, there was so many carp and they were finning right through the surface so much. I was amazed! We were using flies like; Goddard caddis, poppers, different variation of wooly bugger in brown and white( my idea! ) to imitate bread. Still didnt work. We caught a smaller carp on a worm in this little slough coming out of Fairview lake in Oregon though. Nothing on fly.

Goodluck next time man!

Bread is underrated for bait, I have caught catfish that were feeding under where some old ladies were feeding ducks. I have also heard that carp will take tortillas (corn & flour) and green peas. When you fish the carp tie a nylon leader on to your mono, the carp dont like the feel of mono and will spit it out, or so I have heard. Also I heard that using corn in california is illegal, is that just for trout or is it for all fish.
