Robert Gallia of the El Dorado said salmon fishing improved Saturday as
the New Easy Ryder landed 14 adult salmon for 15 anglers around the
Duxbury reef area. Most of the fish taken ranged between 15 and 30
pounds with many skippers reporting landings in the mid 30s. One
43-pounder was caught aboard the New El Dorado III.
Most of the anglers who have been watching and waiting for salmon were
caught off-guard, as a school of kings had moved through by Sunday
morning. That sent scores downward by the afternoon. A few days of windy
conditions should attract more salmon action as the waters continue to
cool along the coast this week.
The tuna scores experienced a setback as well, as windy conditions
remained offshore, preventing most from reaching to the grounds. The
predicted good weather for this weekend should provide a window for some
good action, given the water conditions around the Pioneer Canyon up to
the Gum Drop.
Diana Nunez of BERKELEYMARINASPORTFISHING.COM reported that the
Golden Eye 2000 with Captain Quang Vo fished the Farallon Islands on
Saturday, where the 23 anglers aboard caught 23 ling cod up to 12 pounds
and limits of rock cod. On Sunday, the Golden Eye 2000 headed up the
Marin County Coast up to Pt. Reyes, where 22 anglers caught 44 ling cod
up to 27 pounds and limits of rock cod.
On Saturday and Sunday, the New Golden Eye with Capt. Trung Vo fished
the Farallon Islands and caught a combined 50 ling cod up to 25 pounds
and 510 rock cod.
