Bernadette Pipkins of Gotcha! Bait and Tackle said sturgeon and striper
fishing remains steady. Anglers are heading to the Antioch Pier for both
stripers and black bass using sardines and minnows. The shores of
Highway 160 also have been popular. Catfish and other panfish can be had
at Bethel Island, Dutch Slough, Orwood's Resort and Holland Tract.
Josh Rounsaville caught a 48-inch sturgeon and a 23-inch striper using
grass and ghost shrimp on the Sacramento River, Ted Freitas used grass
shrimp to catch a 47-inch sturgeon on the Sacramento River and a 5-pound
striper at Bethel Island, and Matt Howell caught a 4.25-pound striper
using grass shrimp at the Antioch Pier.
