How is the trout fishing?

I am just curious, I have heard very little about fishing in northern california for any species of fish. Is the sacramento river closer to the northern part? Geography skills are down right now.... Braindead lol.... I think I have seen some trout fishing on that river and it looked to be very good. How does this river fish? What flies/baits do you use? What species are in there?

I'll let you know when! My main purpose of going up there, is to catch a salmon. I REALLY want to catch one. Like REALLY BAD. If you knew me, you would know that im obsessed with trying to catch a halibut, but i want to catch a salmon just as bad. lol.
