Great Family Fishing Vacations

Hello Friends !
Bakers Narrows Lodge is happy to see families enjoying themselves. We are launching a special package aimed at families for summer 2006. It is comprised of a 4-Day & 4-Night Package for two adults, and any children under 12 are free. The itinerary includes a fly-out day for two, a guided, overnight canoe trip departing from the lodge, where the guide will point out wildlife tracks, plant species, and do all the cooking!
We're even including a trip to see the bears! One day of action-packed child care is included. It's sure to be a very memorable family holiday!

Everyone likes a Fishing Show. We want all of our subscribers to be aware of the North American Fishing Club show featuring our lodge which is airing on the OLN during the week of February 26.
Times are:
Saturday @ 9:00 a.m. EST,
Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. EST,
Friday @ 7:00 a.m. EST,
Friday @ 1:00 p.m. EST
and also on FOX Comcast, The Sportsman Channel, Wild TV and AFN networks. Please check your local listing for times.
Steve Penaz, host of the North American Fishing Show was here last June to shoot a program for their show. We've not seen the footage yet, either, but know he will have some great shots of the calibre of fish we catch in our area.

"Time Share" Opportunity
We have been approached by some of our guests about the possibility of a "time share" opportunity. "Timeshares" are not allowed in Manitoba, but we have decided to sell some of our cabins to those interested, allowing them use of the cabins for up to 60 days in the year, and then giving them a percentage of rent received for the remainder of the year. Cabins would be fully furnished, as they now are, with all the amenities they currently have. The owner will have use of all Resort Amenities (docks, fish filleting shed, hot tub, walk-in freezer, boat storage, high speed internet, cable TV) and have maintenance (garbage disposal, water, sewer, power, lawns mowed, roads plowed in winter, firewood, bedding, towels, laundry facilities) provided.

Bakers Narrows Lodge July 2006 Report & Newsletter

Hi everyone,

The Bayton Family is writing today to give an update on the summer so far at the lodge.

Lake Trout have been the most outstanding!!!

Friday, June 30 Armon Hoppe of New York state landed a beautiful Lake Trout -45 in x 30 in girth – weighing 54 lbs.


July 3, Keith Schimbler of North Dakota catching a Lake Trout -45 in x 31 girth – again weighing in at 54 lbs.

. Several of our guests have caught a "Master Angler Lake Trout": Of admirable mentions are:.

Larry Gebauer’s 43 in with 28 in. girth, weighing 43 lbs.



Eelco Reithoff’s 40 in x 28 in girth at 39 ½ lb



Roger Leutz’s 44 ¾ x 25 ½ in girth at 36 ½ lb.

Northern Pike have been super as well.

Tim Binger caught a 44 ¼ in. Northern Pike, as well as a Master Lake Trout.


Janine White caught a 42 ¼ in. Northern Pike,


and Everett Moe a 44 ¾ in.

The Walleye fishing has been phenomenal on the fly-out lakes. One boat caught and released 350 Walleye one day on their fly-out, the next day a boat stopped counting at 200.

On Athapapuskow, the Walleye have not been as plentiful, but we have caught none that weren’t so large that they didn’t have to go back! All were over the slot limit of 55 cm. ( 22 inches).The weather has been wonderful especially compared to the wet, rainy summer we experienced last year.



We do still have openings in July, August and September and are offering some great deals. To fill in some spots, we are offering 25% off our Light Housekeeping and American packages. The flyouts are not included in this special pricing, and will still be $295 per person for those days.

Don’t forget about our packages other than fishing! The Experience the North – Summer and Experience the North – Winter are fully guided, jam-packed with activity tours
that appeal to families and groups.

Perhaps you would like to go on an overnight canoe trip. We have a local trapper/author who will guide you along a beautiful river, giving humorous commentary and plenty of good information about the flora and fauna along the way.

Several of our guests have spotted moose, caribou, bears and eagles on their day out on the lake. You will surely see the large flock of approximately 200 bachelor loons. We are one of only 2 lakes in North America, where bachelor loons come to congregate. There are lots of ducks, geese,, mergansers, and blue herons We truly have a beautiful wilderness holiday waiting for you.

On a personal note, Brock & Jen have their new little one – Brooke April, born April 5, and weighing 7 lb 2 oz., a lovely new little sister for Hanna, Gracie and Caleb.
