Greetings Y'all!
Just stumbled across the site while looking for info on surf perch fishing. Great site and good info. My name is Glenn, but call me Moose, and I am a work-a-holic who is trying to recover. I am dusting off all of my rod and reels, putting on new line, getting the kayak out of the rafters, and have my licence in my wallet. It is time to get back to fishing! I fish for what swims and will put up a fight. I am looking for the low down on surf perch fishing in the San Francisco Bay Area. A friends father in law was talking about how fun it is in the Monterey area and I want to find some spots around here. If you folks can give me some tips, tricks, and places I would be in your debt. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!
Moose

Welcome to the board Moose! I'm glad you like the site! I don't know any good perch spots in that area off the top of my head, but we'll help you do some research. I'll let you know when we come up with something. Looking forward to your reports!

Damn! That is the type of fishing I want to get into "Perch Surf Fishing"...I know its fun to catch this guys on ultra light gear, 1-1 1/2 grubs and soft shell crabs , but what are the length of rod, and kind of reel do you use, what kind of action of rod do you want, etc... Thanks!

Welcome to the board! When i fish in the surf, i like to use light gear. I use trout gear such as 2 pound test, and an ultralight rod.
