sup...
Yo, I'm new to this board. I've been fishing all my life, but this year is the first time I really studied fish (so no more 10ft ocean rods at local parks ). I mostly fish La Mirada Lake, Cerritos, Laguna Lake (won't reopen 'til may 2005), Lincoln Park, Belvedere Park, and I'll try to fish Tri-City more often.
I'm mostly fish for trout, catfish, and carp (I've also been bit by the bug. Seems like an epidemic to me ). I gave up on bass, I've never really had any success with them.

In fullerton, off of Euclid, just past Euclid and Rosecrans. It is a very small lake, very close to my house. You can cast from one side of the lake to the other, that is how small it is.

A while back, when they were draining the lake, they also found a 100+lb, 100+yr old African Snapping Turtle. It made the news a few months past. If you search the backlogs of ##############.net (hold your breath while you enter) you'll see a few pictures of the turtle.
The lake needed repairs SO bad. I used to have awesome luck catching catfish using hot dogs as bait. But when you looked at them, they would be green. The filters weren't working, so all the kitties were covered in algae.

It's not that I gave up entirely on lmb,it's that when I'm trying to catch trout, I catch bass. When I wanna catch bass, i get nothing. No bites, no farming, nothing. I remember doing some night trout fishing at Echo Park (I know, I have huge huevos for doing that). I had a bubblegum power bait on a #16 treble hook. When I got no bites, I started reeling it in. When BAM! I got a 3lb bass! Cool. After that, I got no bites. Another time, I was trout fishing in Cerritos with my favorite lure (trout teaser + 1/2 a lip ripper). I caught a 1 1/2lb lmb. After that, nothing. I've tried all the bass lures, roboworms, I haven't tried live bait yet. And I always get nothing. It's pretty frustrating. I've since fell in love with carp fishing. Talk about adrenaline, trying to reel in fish 2lbs and up on a 2lb line. Bass put up a bigger fight if both fish weigh the same, but you'll fight 10+lb carp more often than you ever will bass over 10lbs. (Please don't think I'm bashing bass. It's just that I've had my feelings hurt too often by bass. )
But yeah, I'd take bass pointers any day.
BTW, that Ralph quote kicked major buttocks!!
