Transplant

just moved here from NJ a few weeks ago. Hoping the fishing in the west is comparable to back home. Most of my fishing was done from NJ beaches up through Cape Cod, Mass. Made it offshore as well. same old chit, offshore.. tuna, swords, sharks etc..inshore..bluefish, stripers, tog, fluke, false albacore, bonito, sea bass, ling etc.

looking froward to learning the game

Welcome to the site!! Surf fishing here is a lot differnt then the NE. No need for rod holders on the jeep and leave the 18ft rods at home!!! Look forward to your reports and all reports require pics or there just fish tales!!!

dodo.....fly to NJ/NY in June... or Virginia in January...about as close to a guarantee for a 30 as you can get. I have had days on the beach(boat fish don't count) in NJ over the last five years fishing the spring bunker runs casting pencil poppers, swimmers etc where I have 6-8 30 lb plus fish. The largest I personally wintessed was a guy in my fishing club who had one 60 lbs 3 oz. I believe it was the second largest fish caught off the beach in Jersey behind McReynolds world record.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

top picture is from my friends charter boat this past summer. I think one or two of those fish are over 30 dodo...mostly teens to twenty something, plus bluefish, fluke etc. I am the guy second to right.

second is a drumfish. also taken in June a couple miles off the beach in Cape May NJ.

How do you catch those? They look like tanks! Kind of like a redfish too but I've always called them tanks as well.
