Yeah man, I thought Peacock Bass hit really hard at the surface, and they do, really hard! But when My first Taimen hit (my third cast of the first day), it scared the S#@! out of me. It's like an electrical jolt! Seriously! After the first couple, you get use to the strike, but it's still incredible.

Use Guena Pigs, they are more annoying and cheaper to buy...

or a "Take your pet fishing" day, I bet a Black labrador would make excellent Great White Shark bait.

If any of you guys have never seen a Taimen, check this out:

http://www.acuteangling.com/Taimen/taihome.htm#taimenu

The largest one I caught was about 10-12 inches longer thatn this one.
Keep in mind they can live 25-30 years, and they get about twice the length of the one you'll see in this picture. When they get bigger they turn more "silver" in color and thier bodies get semi-scaley like a Tarpon or Arrowana, but scales not nearly as big.

On this same website (www.AcuteAngling.com) you can check out other exotic species like Payara (from South America -these are wicked!) and Golden Dorado or they just call 'em "Freshwater Dorado" (from South America also), I've actually caught this species before at Castaic...just kidding, ...I was in Argentina about two years ago and did one day of fishing for this fish. I wanna catch Payara the next time I'm able to go to South America!!!

Yeah, at that size they do. I can't find any pictures on the web of what they look like when they get bigger. I 've explained it on this thread a few times, but it's hard to concieve without seeing it for yourself. They really go through this weird metamorphasis...more silvery in color (maybe grayish is a better color discription), and somewhat scaley.
