San Carlos is truly a fisherman´s paradise,
most residents own a yate or at least a panga with all the goodies,
It is the place we dream that our retirement will be.
Rich people indeed, with a boat and retired and
in the middle of a year round fishery paradise ..wow
My nephew Melvin is a kid that loves fishing, he wants to learn
and I promised him a yellowtail, or two
So we went with Gerardo, the captain chased by the killer whale,
(see marlin´s magazine)
Gerardo took us on a 1/2 day
yellowtail venture, we started using his rapalas but no love
trolling because the "jurel" was deep, like 30-40 ft deep
there is no kelp and stuff you see at the moo moo boats
so we had a challenge... and, no fish finder
So I rigged the small aa tadys for melvin,
and he inmediately hooked 2 little yellows
and he was happy, and released the forkies to figth another day
after that we saw birds on the move, all at once circling
the sign yellowtail is about to boil, pushing the sardinas up
So I tossed the old reliable tady 45 in mint ( CA style) let it drop and
reel it the fast I could on my old Newell 332, on a Avet rod
(yes avet rods exist dodo) and the best line for this purpose,
P-LINE 30 in smoke blue

the reeling stoped...tug-tug and run
a medium size yellow fought like it was on a monster drink
went under the boat, and around, it was fun
till I bounced that baby and toosed the tady again
tug tug.. and another run same size, this time Melvin gafted the jurel
then he tossed the iron for no love and a bird nest
completing his trainning on yellowtail
I'll post pictures when I get a place that they can put them
from my camera to a cd, or till I get home, after new year´s
