Hotel Punta Colorada '04
Hey guys was at punta colorada from november 23-30 and it was overall a good trip. First off November is known for storng North winds and it usually pretty windy for about three or four days then you get a nice day then more days of wind. My mom did not let me bring my fishing poles, but I managed to take my fly rod, and I used boat/hotel rods. I only fished two days, and I did OK went out with my mom, my sister and a friend. We started out looking for tuna and I got a skipjack and a small yft and 2 sierra, my friend got a yft that was a little bigger then mine and a dink dodo, my mom got 2 sierra and my sister got skunked. We moved to get over the reef again and we got a few more sierra and i got about 20lb dorado, then the wind picked up and we headed in. The wind starts to pick up more in the afternoon. The second day of fishing was me, my mom and my sister and it was VERY windy. I started out the day with a white skipjack and 2 sierra, my mom got 2 sierra one being the biggest one i have ever seen, it looked like a wahoo but all of the sierra we got were big and strong. We caught a few triggerfish(great ceviche) and headed over to the lighthouse where we trolled rapalas for a few more sierra. Then headed in. Not the best I have done down thier but we did better then most of the other people that fished while we were down thier. I did get to take out my fly rod once and was rewarded with a nice 5lb jack creavelle, for those of you that have never pulled on one of these, they are very strong fish and quite a battle on the fly rod. I also got some snorkeling in the same day and got some oysters and saw LOTS of fish, as well as a nice pargo, i wish i had a spear.
Sorry I did not post earlier. Upon arriving at my house tuesday i was informed that my uncle had died. I barely had enough time to get fish out of the icechests and we were off to my aunts house.
If anyone has any questions or if you want information about the hotel PM me, I have been going thier for ten years and my mom for 15 and we are very good friends with the owners. I will be going in August for a month if all goes as planned.

Cube,
I never saw your thread on Punta Colorada. I've read so many good things about that resort. glad you had a good time. I've probably caught more of a variety of species in this world than most people since I've fished all over this planet, but my dumb ### never knew that you could hook into Sierra on the west coast or the Sea of Cortez. I thought Sierra were native only to the East coast, Atlantic South America, and Atlantic Africa. Why didn't you post any pictures of Sierra in your post. I see a small YFT, a med. Bull DoDo and another picture with a small Jack "C".
Now I've got Mexico Fever. I think a trip down to San Quintin for a couple days on pangas for big fat Roosters is warranted!!

hey man, the reason i didnt get some sierra pics up is because we didnt take many of the sierra, but they were the biggest sierra i have caught so far. also for this trip i didnt take any of my rods as it was kind of a relax trip for my mom, i have better pics from past trips. thats also why the fish sizes were not huge. thier are some good roosters, ill post my pic of my personal best rooster a little later.
