The better half might be the better fisherperson? It'd be interesting to see how the day ends up. Mireya's AVET is special ordered and her rod isn't built yet. I still have research on that to go. In the meanwhile it'll be her pink pole and Abu.

I would love to go, but I've never fished sw-- except for thowing a couple of plastics in the harbor. I'm sure all the gear I have is wrong for a boat. What should I get to "start" with?

If you want to go, I have a jigmaster/Penn Power Stick combo you can borrow so you don't have to go out and buy a bunch of stuff. Other than the rods/reels, you just need some hooks, weights, and whatever plastics and irons you like.

For someone starting off get a penn 500 great all around SW casting reel and also cheap. I think Big 5 are haveing great sales on rods..

That would be awesome Jon! What would you suggest for plastics and iron?

Honestly, those are really optional. If you've never fished on a charter boat before, you might be better off sticking with live bait and cut squid. If you do want to bring plastics and iron to fish with, bring the basics - brown, blue, green colors in 4, 5, and 6 inch. Same colors for iron. I don't really fish with iron very often so I can't be much help with the exact size or model of iron.
So should we sign you up?!
