The Togiak is a pretty nice tube. My friend has one and likes it quite a bit. It does pack down well as opposed to the standard FC4 and ODC420 (no styrofoam seat).

He's had it for a while and has no complaints. It's actually a good tube for a larger individual too. Lot's of room, very comfy. I am not a big fan of the valves on it though.

Is it the steam style valve with a twist lock on the end. Just wondering this is what I have and I like to tie a small plastic bag around it, just to make sure it does not open if it gets hit.
Thanks for your insite, eveyone.

Ok so I really would like to get the ODC 420 and I just found one for price of $149 from Creek Company.
I will get one or the other soon, but I am leaning toward the ODC-420 there is not much I don't like about this set up.

The ODC and FC4 are very similar and either is a great choice. That price is right too! I have both the ODC and FC4 and use the ODC most, it has a little longer front end on it that I like for resting rods. The FC4 is real stunted in the front of the pockets.

I saw one of those out at Irvine Friday and a friend of mine used to have one. The only thing I noticed that wasn't cool about it was that the bottom area that it floats and rests on isn't a heavy rubber or vinyl it's all just canvas/fabric that is vulnerable to punctures. And on the ends where the two points meet they didn't line up and meet at the tip they were kind of offset to eachother and looked weird.

Like the other guys said I would go with the tried and true Fish Cats or ODC. The foam blocks can be kind of a pain but lately I found if you put them inside those extra large zip-locks before putting them in the float tube they stay dry and float better.

Great tip on the foam seat! Someone else mentioned saran wrap for it.

Awesome tips in this thread for float tubing.. I might try to seal up the blocks in something or wrap them and see if there's a difference .. I'm sure it will affect the weight while carrying them

Hey Jeff,

That was the same model tube I started with. Nice but it has several problems with its design.

First the foam seat must be inserted into the tube before infaltion of the pontoons. And they don't quite fit right....kind of long and the velcro straps that hold it in the tube never held very good.

The second problem I had with the tube was that the outer cover is not very durable....the second outing to NPH it started to shred at one of the seams. I just used a little spectra and sowed it up.

The next problem I encountered was with the outer cover again....after about 6 months it began to shred again.

My advice is to look at another tube..maybe a fishcat or caddis.

Jef if you want you can take a test kick in my caddis to see how you like it.
