Line Diameters

For inquiring minds.......

Here is a chart that gives you the line diameters for Monofiliment, Copolymers and
Fluorocarbon lines.

Its is Izor specific but almost all lines will correspond directly with this chart. If not they
will be very close.

Thanks for the chart Walter !

I've been looking for a chart like you presented us for a while....

Also:

Does every type of line manufacture have different diameters of mono ?

Because i've noticed that some of the cheaper line manufactures mono is thicker as well as spectra...Is it just me ?

Yes, your observation is correct. The cheaper lines use less
expensive material to extrude thier lines. Consequently the
diameter has to be larger to get the required pound test that is needed.

That's one of the big reasons I test the breaking strength
vs. the line diameter of lines that I buy. I take the actual breaking strength,
not the advertized strength, and divided it by the diameter of the line.
That gives you the pounds breaking strength for a given unit of diameter.
You want that figure to be as large as possible.

I don't want to go into the math right now but be advised that a
20lb mono can actually be stronger per unit of diameter than
another mfgs 25 lb rated line.
