Ive bought a Shimano Cardiff and an Abu Garcia off of ebay and had good luck. I paid around 30 bucks for each one. You do have to be careful and really look around since your buying as is and dont get to actually hold the reel. Do some research on the reel you are looking at then see how much they are new. That will give you an idea if you are getting a good deal or not. Then just find a conventional rod to match it up with. That will depend on what line class the reel is and what you plan to fish for.

What are you going to be using it to catch??? So many variables in your question!! If you want a conventional set-up that's good and cheap is a penn jig master matched to a penn sabre from big 5. They're always on sale. Ebay is good but make sure you buy from a reputable seller.

NICK AND SPOOK , basiclly have the right idea. if your looking for a combo package, then i would say its time to lay out the #s.

ill start with a 15-30 blank with a 535 gs. it will cost over a hundred, but its worth it.
