The girls and I went down to our spot at the creek today. The youngest rigged up with some worms as soon as we got there and started catching sunfish of all kinds right away. They didn't dig up as many worms as they usually do, so the oldest started dipping minnows to use as bait. She probably netted 100 or more in about 10 minutes, lol. She even managed to net a decent sized bluegill.

After she did that, she rigged up some of the smaller minnows and starting catching fish, too. The worms ran out fast and they decided to let the remaining minnows go and made the switch to artificials. One rigged up with chart/black flake grubs and the other with pink/silver flake grubs. They caught more on the plastics than the live bait! One of them handed me their rod, so I made a cast and hooked up on a snapping turtle that was about 18" long (shell length). That was fun, lol! All in all, we had a great time and released all the fish (except a few of the minnows

). Total count was 5 green sunfish, 22 bluegill, 7 pumpkinseed, 9 longear, and 6 redear. Not a bad way to spend a couple hours.
