Creek Fishing 4-21
The weather has been really nice the last few days, so I took my daughters down to our local creek. I tested lures while they fished with worms in one of the deep holes. My youngest caught the first, the most, and the biggest fish of the day. She managed to get a 9-10 inch pumpkinseed! They wound up catching 10 fish in about an hour. They caught bluegill, pumpkinseed, green sunfish, and a darter. One of the green sunfish was about 8 inches.
All in all, they had a great time. And so did I. The batteries were dead in my dig cam, so no pics this time.
We also saw a big water snake, that hung out with us the whole time we were there. They wanted to catch it, but I wouldn't let them, lol.

Congrats on the successful outing, pretty brave family of the kids to want to catch the water snake.

LOL Rich!! My girls are outdoor enthusiasts, through and through. They handle snakes of all kinds, among other critters, that most people run screaming from. They are really great kids. They love the outdoors and fishing. They even bait their own hooks and take fish of the hook. What more could a dad ask for?

Congrats on a pretty good day of fishing. Too bad about the camera. Were you able to catch anything on the lure? Good job overall MO

I tested a bunch of my lures there today, Tom. I had several bluegill and green sunfish attack the lures. The funniest was one that kept hitting the 7" trout I was throwing. It was a bluegill, about 4 inches long. If he would have gotten the 1/0 hook in his mouth, I would have died laughing!

Lol I know how the "lure bigger than the fish" thing goes. My first lure catch was a bass and the lure was over half the size of the bass. I got a good laugh out of that one

It was great to finally get out!!!
A darter is a small bottom fish, very similar to a SW lizardfish. Very cool looking, with many color variations and multiple species. They are all over the Ozarks area. They usually stay in shallow, clear, moving water. Not an ordinary fish to catch on rod and reel.
