Grunion/CorVina

has anyone caught anything on grunion lately? i hope to get out soon to get some grunion. are they a good bait for anything on pier? also ive seen pics of corvinas, where are they caugh- surf or deeper waters? also wat area of california are they caught (souther etc)?

we saw some corbina swimming around santa monica the other day. use sand crabs

If you're looking for corbina, ghost shrimp work great. Sand crabs are also a favorite snack but they're not quite around yet. Wait a little longer for the summer months to come up and then you'll find more sand crabs. Any ones you do find right now will still have a hard shell, and the fish prefer the soft shell ones.

Lol I think he capatalized the "V" in CorVina on purpose. Corvina can usually be found fairly close to shore, from what I understand they like about the same habitat as WSB, open water fish that feed inshore predominatly. It can be differenciated by WSB by 2 canine teeth on the upper jaw, and an orange hue to the fins and inside lower jaw. Should be able to get one on swimbaits etc. I remember see'ing a few caught in Mission bay.

im sure grunion would work good if they are running. i havnt cought corvina in a while. last time was about three years ago in SD bay on irons they were big arrownd 15+lbs
