Hey little trout chaser, a little late response since i haven't checked the site too often but this year you may want to try out Battle creek on the way to Mineral. I think from Red Bluff or Redding and as you're heading to Mineral you'll pass by battle creek turn into one of the camp sites there and hike as far as you can following the creek and i'd say about a mile or so further up the creek you will come to some very deep pools and waterfalls... Throw a mepps or panther martin into the pools and hang on....Man i remember big rainbows and hookjaw browns were in those pools.. Of course that was about....oh i don't remember but many years ago,, the hike is rough enough to where it may discourage the average angler but if you go up far enough you will get into some BIG natives and they will hit just about anything. I remember my brother wanted to fly fish but didn't have fly rod or reel so he just bought some fly line and put it on his spinning outfit and caught trout on cheap raley's flies with a 4 foot leader of straight 4 lb tippet!
