owens river

have any of u guys ever fished the owens river. i will be hopefully heading up there in 3 weeks. any tips?

Check the regs for the location you're fishing before you go. I'm not sure how or if the rules change, but I know different parts of the owens are artificial only w/ barbless hooks.

As for plastics, I'd fish natural and white color mini jigs, berkely nymphs, and power worms.

Maybe someone else might know what flies would be good.

check the reports on http://www.sierradrifters.com/ and there are some specialized flies that work there but they'll be mentioned if they're working...

Take along a good warm jacket. I plan on going up to the Owens River in the late spring, and kayak down it. There are some places that you can't reach from shore, The reeds are to thick, but from a tube or kayak, its great fishing. Good luck, and keep warm.
