cedar plank salmon?

my buddy gets a cedar plank with a salmon filet on it and sets his charcoals off to one side off the bbq and when fuel burns off puts cedar plank w/salmon fillet off to the other side this smokes the salmon w/cedar flvr. ive never had id but ive herd from all that have tried it that its different and really good too,it was popular out here 2 years ago. i think the cedar was from a local home depot or similar place its really common wood 15"x5"x 1/2" should work but exzact is not important.

We cedar planked my trout that I caught one time and we only soaked it in water. In JUST water it was still really tasty, add something with flavor and its even better.

Mark you need to follow the directions. Every good cook nows you put the JD in a glass and use a cheap bourbon to sprinkle on the fish. Drink the JD, don't waste expensive booze, it's a major sin.
