light weight casting rod?
Can anyone suggest a rod in the six foot range that has "parabolic" action and is good for 6-8 lb line? All of the ones I can find are too freakin heavy, 10-20lb...I need a new rod to match with my new bass reel.

Well, first so I dont get in trouble I suggest checking out hookuptackle.com, actually the airrus rods are good rods and I believe there is some in your range. If nothing there go to walmart (Yes I know I know) and look for their abu garcia IM7 graphite rods. They are black with blue wrapping and believe it or not are pretty good rods. I bought my last rod from there to specifically fish 8lb.

Get a Daiwa heartland. Both me and Nick own one, and we love them! Its the best rod i own (next to my gloomis), and they only cost 60 bucks.

Yeah, the airrus rods are way better than the heartland. No comparison. And for the money, you can't go wrong. Check them out.

you should look into the heartland im6 models. the heartland-s serries have a bass cranking model rod. i havent used those yet not sure how similar those are the the graphite heartlands since the cranking rods are fiberglass. like sean said the heartland rods are extremely good rods for thier price range.

I have the old Heartland x 7ft rod for my mini jig rod and its ok, but I honestly like the Abu IM7 rods better and they are IM7 not IM6 and are cheaper than the heartland. But that is just my opinion

Thanks for the suggestions I will check them out, I have purchased a lot of tackle via the net before but I dont buy rods without being able to hold it first. I am very picky about the action, number and placement of guides, reel seats etc.

At my local Sport Mart I found a two piece casting rod that is an Ultra Light (4-8 lb), I was very temted to get it but then I would have to find a casting reel for 2-4 lb line. I dont know if I would be able to cast mini jigs with a casting reel but MAN wouldnt that be fun for big trout...

As far as convetional goes, stay away from two piece rods. Just big problems.

I picked up a 7ft Shakesphere Synergy for $20.00 bucks at Sportmart today, its rated 4-12 pound and has pretty good action and should be fun on 6lb. I am still looking for a shorter rod in the same weight class for float tubing however, its a pain landing a decient fish on a 7ft rod off a float tube.

i know where to buy baitcasters that are rated for 2-4 pound line... its Bob Sand's Fishing tackle, i could take a picture if you are interested. And if you like how it looks from there i guess i'd be able to mail it for you or get them to mail it to you.

Well so much for my new POS Synergy, it broke into three pieces when I lifted a two pound sandbass on to the boat. D'OH! Anyway I am again looking for a new bass rod...
