Daiwa Saltiga vs. Accurate Boss
I've got a little extra money to get a good rod/reel combo. Right now I'm trying to decide which reel to get. I'm torn between the Daiwa SA30T and the Accurate B-270M. Which one do you think would be the better reel? The Accurate would cost me about $391 and I can get the Daiwa for $332.
I would be fishing it with 25# line.
Also, what rod would be good to use? I need something that would be ideal for throwing live bait. This rod will be used mainly for tuna and yellowtail.

It depends if you want a star or lever drag.I like the saltiga 30T myself. I have one and it's a great reel. I have mine set up with 50lb spectra and 30lb top shot. Plus this reel is not as wide as the 270.

Jonathan, !!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you even consider the over priced and over rated(well maybe not over rated), Accurate!!!! the Saltiga is the way to go hands down. If i were you, I would consider the AVET MXL 0/2. It's a two speed reel (i believe 4.1:1 and 6.3:1), with 9 lbs of drag at strike and 16lbs of drag at full, excellent for #25 test, it's a lever drag reel of course, priced right inbetween the price of your other two choices, and to me it's as good if not a better reel than the others. But between the other two, 'd go with the Diawa!!!

You got a good point there Tony! The Avet MXJ single or two speed is a great choice. Small, pretty, and whacks a good punch too!...........................But I always wondered...........????????...... why would anyone need a Two speed reel for 25lb test?

Baja is in the Hizzzouse! Yeah, I kinda wondered that too.......It's slightly a marketing thing for AVET; to have a real of that caliber with 2 speeds; not to say it's not a good idea to have two speeds on that size of a reel, you could have an angler that tires out more easily than most anglers and that high gear ratio comes in handy, or you could be targeting, lets say.....mmmmmm....Albies, trolling, and a medium size Sail decides to swallow your skirt.........two speed comes in real handy for some in a situation like that.......unless it's people like you and I Dave, one speed.......NO PROBLEM!!
Finally the King of the Dark Kings joins the Hook Up site, Booyaa!!!!!!

Hey Dave, thanks for signing up. It's been a while since I've heard from you. We'll have to get out and fish sometime soon. Hope you like the board!

Oh, and I actually heard from my connections at AVET Reels, all of thier models are going to eventually be 2 speed; even the small and amazingly powerful and equally as pretty.. SX 5.1

THREE HUNDRED DOLLORS FOR A FISHING REEL? Does it play music too? how about Internet access? Holy crap thats a lot of money...I would be to afraid to take a reel like that on a boat, what if you drop it overboard? my paranoia would never allow me to own a reel that expensive.

Over board??, man you gotta hold on to that rod and reel no matter what, trust me, my ### would go in after it!! but sometimes you gotta let it go in the water, just tie it to another rod and reel and it becomes really expensive fishing line!
