Unfortunately, the culture of bribery in Mexico has not changed--every administration has promised to "clean up Dodge," but nothing ever changes. Fortunately for US fishermen, many fishing resort owners in Mexico--some with big money and political clout--are fighting back against the gill-netting interests and the politicians pocketing their bribes. They realize that the gill-netters will destroy their business--catering to US fishermen. Also, Mexican television has taken up the fight against gill-netting, exposing the sickening rape of the seas by these modern-day pirates. The Mexican public is finally starting to become aware of these environmental abuses, and they are not being quiet. Of course, to really turn things around, the crooked politicos will need to have their palms greased, and a few more gill-netters will have to be boarded by the Mexican Navy and have their boats and equipment confiscated. And the emails certainly won't hurt the cause--sometimes public opinion can halt even the slimiest politician

All you have to do is send a quick email to the officials listed on the site. It is a one click process, just enter your email and it sends an email to a number of mexican officials.
following is the link to the one click email:

Some people may think that it is the mexican government that is being dealt with and that it is futile to send the email but it just shows that there are people out there like us who care about the Sea of Cortez. Also it takes less then a minute to do.
Thanks

I sent emails--and I know that the current administration in Mexico is sensitive to environmental issues, and if enough of us take just a few minutes, we can can stop this madness dead in its tracks. But if we ignore the situation, it will be business as usual--fish lose, greedy commercial fisherman win!
