SUISUN: Jordona Santiago of Martinez Bait & Tackle reported good
fishing. Striper are still being had from the Martinez pier, shoreline
and both ends of the Mothball Fleet. Grass shrimp and bullhead are doing
the trick. Sturgeon are being caught at Buoys 2 and 6. Use grass and
ghost shrimp. The tides will be good through the weekend with an average
of 4 feet of movement.
Catching stripers were John Gabellin of Martinez (two totaling 41
inches) on grass shrimp from the Martinez shoreline, Phong Lee of
Pittsburg (25.5 inches, 6.7 pounds) from the shoreline on grass shrimp,
Steve Clark of Martinez (35 inches, 15 pounds) in the shallows of the
first row of ships on bullhead and Lee Lancaster of Benicia (20 inches)
at the east end of the Mothball Fleet on grass shrimp.
Lancaster also caught a 51-inch, 29.3-pound sturgeon in the same place
on grass shrimp. Others catching sturgeon were Henry Sibley of Moraga
(56 inches) on ghost shrimp at Buoy 2 and Roger Lewis of Livermore (67
inches, 64.1 pounds) at Buoy 6 on grass shrimp.
