Salmon fishing or saltwater YT?

Hmmm...torn...three days this week and four days next week am supposed to salmon fish but my friend who fished this past weekend got nada (about six hits, no fish) and he's a better fisherman for salmon than I am. Am told we need rain...no rain on the forcast.

YT are hitting the banks, in good numbers but the boat we had ties to had to cancel it's trip due to lack of customers...YT are good sizes also...I may try to hop on a private boat...

The Professional guides have been slow, but getting chromers, but still very slow and I don't feel like trolling with flesh covered plugs...maybe I'll try to convince a friend with a drift boat...darn, I'll have to drink with him if I do...I'm a lightweight.

Or maybe I'll try my hand (a losing hand so far) at catching halibut from shore?

Or maybe I should just say "WTF" and fish Jenks or Jackson.....? I'd have to breakout my 3 wt....

Any suggestions?

If I'm going up north, I have to pack up tonight...

Do the halibut fishing from shore. I like that idea.

You could go clam digging at low tide, and surf fishing at high tide. You know what, that sounds so good mayby Thats what I'll do.Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks guys...I have a wedding to attend on Saturday...my buddy can't get into the event he wanted and the guy with the boat that can make the trip we want has to work...we've decided to fish for "zombies" in a holding area...I want to pull on fish and I'm okay with having to release 9 out of 10 fish...thats what my pliers are for

I've got to respool downward my silver Calcutta (we use really light line).

Instead of leaving right after work to catch the dusk bite on Wed, we're going to leave Wed night, fish the good hours on Thursday AM, break for brunch, then fish the good PM hours and do it again on Friday and be back home on Saturday in time to put on a suit...then on Sunday, watch some friends hopefully in the finals down at the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa...some of them are on Dynasty Dynamics...then go back to work for two days and do it again

It's funny, my friends were making fun of my 10 ft casting rod and guess what both of them were/will be fishing with? Yes, a 10 ft lamiglass LOL.

Good luck at both lakes and the surf and clamming...last time I saw any clams in OC, was two decades ago.

I have to coordinate with a friend who only likes the salmon part...or the offshore part...

Ray, what's goin on at the fairgrounds? Who else is playing? I'm so behind the times as far as PB goes it's crazy. I'd opt for targeting hali's in the surf. Cant beat the beach gals, sunshine and potential to catch a nice flatty.

go to http://www.nppl.tv/site/

It's the last leg of the NPPL, the Commander's Cup, after the Gibbs brother that played paintball but died a year or two ago.

If you look up Team Alchemy in the Semi-Pro division, look down at the bottom of the list...we'll be there...why do you think I was fishing in Sacramento

If I get up early enough Sunday Morning, after a wedding reception, I may try for some halibut...maybe at Sealbeach, and then head over to the fairgrounds.
