Dana Point Harbor Float Tubing 7/2 report
I went float tubing today with Tony (L@gunaBe@achbum) in Dana Point Harbor next to the bait barge. Almost everything today was caught on swimbaits and Jerk-Its.
In the beggining of the day, I dropped a Blue Storm Swimbait, and caught 2 large adult tomcod. After that, I casted it out, and caught a white sea bass, which gave a very good fight. It was about 18 inches. I also tried a jerk it bait, and caught another tomcod. After that, I caught 2 yellow-fin croaker on back-to-back casts on squid. They surprisingly gave a great fight. Later in the day, I caught a barracuda on a green iron man. At the end of the day, I caught a stingray (I think it was a butterfly ray) that weighed about 8 pounds.
Tony caught one small halibut on a jerk it by the dock. Later, he caught another halibut around 1 ft on a swimbait I gave him. He also hooked one that would have easily been legal, but he snapped the line. During the day, he caught 2 tomcod, a yellowfin croaker, and a very small baby white sea bass.
Tony and I had a very fun day. We hope to fish here more often.
