Australia (Leaving soon)
Hi all
Well I haven’t posted anything for awhile (but I have been reading all the great info. that you all have been posting). I have been pretty busy with work and getting ready for my yearly fishing trip (looking for big Black Marlin) out of Cooktown Australia (last year we left out of Cairns, this year we will be fishing more up around Lizard Island and Ribbon reefs) . I’ll be leaving next week for about a 2 ½ week stay. I’m fishing once again on the Moana III with Capt. Dan McCarthy and crew. I will be doing a 10 day live aboard with just me alone fishing (I hope I can hack it, I did 7 days last year and it almost killed me, ha ha).
I’m pretty well set now (I take my own tackle) 7 outfits (Biscayne & Seekers; TI130 and down fully loaded), at last count I had pre rigged over 30 lures (we fish mostly with bait, but I still like to toss some lures at them in the late morning (and of course lure fishing for bait). In reality my TI130 and TI80 are the only outfits I use for Blacks, all the rest are for bait fishing and messing around You never know what you may hook when trolling for bait inside the GBR Any way with Rod case, tackle box and 1 suitcase for the rest of my tackle (between the 3 it will be around 170 or so lbs). My clothes I take on the plane in a back pack. It’s a real hassle but that’s the price you pay when you like to fish your own stuff.
I’m getting pretty excited, anxious and apprehensive now. It really won’t hit me until I’m on the plane and in the air. That’s when you ask your self a lot of questions.
Oh the fishing out of San Diego this year has been pretty good. I have taken some 2 days and we all did pretty well.
Good Fishing
Terry

Terry, be safe(I hate that ride to Australia. really long and I had the worst flight I've ever had in my life over the So. Pacific). Most people love the flight. Too long. I've been prone to long flights with the places I've been unfortunately; some of the longest (South Korea, Dar Es Salam-Tanzania/Africa) Going to Dar Es Salam in Tanzania was ridiculous. Fly to London, then Amsterdam, then to Egypt, then finally to Tanzania ...sucked big time. And not for fishing either(though the reason I went was pretty incredible)!
Anyway, enough about my flights. I'm really looking forward to your pictures and reports. Would love to put you up for "Catch of the Week"!

Terry: You are obviously a hardcore fisherman and that pretty much describes everyone of these boards. Good luck in Australia and may the skunk be left on the dock in San Diego victimized by his own bad luck
