Red colored hooks, do they defeat the purpose?

I'm looking at replacing all of my trailer hooks, treble hooks on all my lures such as crank baits, kastmasters, spoons, etc., and also change all my live bait, Texas wide gap, wacky rig hooks, etc. with Diatchi Bleeding hooks or TruTurn Blood Red hooks. The reason being is that they say that fish react to red color more than any other color, which I believe is true. but they also say that red is the first color in the light spectrum that disappears in water (after about 3 feet) such as Cajun Red fishing line. So does this defeat the purpose of Blood Red colored hooks if your fishing these lures or live bait deeper than three feet?!?!?! What's the deal?!?! Any opinions? My head hurts!

Well, I know that with fishing trout, with nightcrawlers specifically, I have outfished people next to me 3:1 using the owner (red) octopus hooks, compared to my neighbors normal bronze hooks. I believe in it and we were fishing 40 feet of water so it had to be the hook color. That's my feeling anyway. When spectrums are concerned they are relating information pertenent to humans, and fish dont really care about that I think that's why red is such a great color in saltwater plastics. Think about Iron ,made specifically for white sea bass. All white with the red S. I have caught more fish on that, than people with all white jigs. Been there done that type of thing.

JCE, That makes alot of sense. That's exactly what I was looking for; someone who's had experience in comparing; I really never took the time to compare any application of red colored hooks in ratio to plain Bronze, in terms of what caught more. I think I'm gonna go ahead and take the time and replace most if not all of my lure hooks and live bait hooks with blood red variety type hooks. Thanks for the info dude.
