Try the Shimano AX series, the smallest model holds about 200 yards of 2lb and it usually comes with an extra spool. About 25 bucks at Turner's Outdoorsman...

I use the Shimano Sedona 500. You can get them for around $50 and they are a good solid reel with instant anti-reverse and the shimano cust service is great. I also really like the Daiwa Laguna 500, but it's a little more. They go for around $70. I've fished both and I would recommend either.

I've never fished this reel before. I would find it at a store so you can play with it a little before you buy.

I have the Shimano Sedona 500 also, I love it. I use 2 lb test line with my 4ft kencor, works great.

CST, The Sedona is good, very good, but please let me make an awsome suggestion to you. There is a brand of reel called TICA. TICA is a brand that is very popular in Asia, Australia, and especially Europe. It's just getting to make it's big break through here in the states . It has got to be one of the best reels for the money. Some pricey models and some very moderately priced models. One of the best built spinning reels I've ever fished with. I don't personally own any just yet, but I will get model #'s and prices and places to purchase TICA Reels, near you. You said you're willing to drop another "C" note for the reel? You can definietly get a real good model for around $80-$100. All my freshwater spinning -Trout, Steelhead and Salmon rods are either St.Croix, Damon Rods(www.damonrods.com), and one 5'6" Shimano Schimitar trout rod, not cheap rods, so if I were you I would treat myself to something that will really compliment your St. Croix, good choice in a rod by the way!! I'll hit you back on your personal message spot with the info.
