Talk about unique situations ........Newport Landing Sportfishing operates a bit differently than most other landings here in California; they own their whole sportfishing fleet! Each of the four Newport Landing vessels is owned by Newport Landing Sportfishing itself which gives customers big advantages. Again, this feature adds to the organization and great service you'll find when fishing out of Newport Landing. Newport Landing Sportfishing offers open party as well as private charters on all of thier sportfishers which are all insured and fully Coast Guard certified.

The Patriot is a Newport Landing Sportfishing icon. It is thee go to 3/4 day vessel. It offers general admission trips daily from 7am-5pm. The Patriot offers "inshore" fishing along Southern California coastal areas from Newport to Dana Point and also frequent island trips to Santa Catalina Is. In mid to late summer months the Patriot also makes off shore runs for pelagics. It's a 72 foot long vessel that can accomodate up to 76 anglers. It's fitted with a full 50 scoop bait tank, a full Galley and updated electronics including fish finders and chart plotting technology. The Patriot is always set to go with an experienced captain and crew.


As Newport Landings 1/2 day open party king, the Nautilus can run up to 3 open party 1/2 trips in a day! It is an inshore fishing beast, fishing the Southern California coastline around Newport, Long Beach, Dana Point, and Huntington Beach. It's a 70 foot vessel that can accomodate up to 72 anglers. The Nautilus is also fitted with a 50 scoop bait tank and a full galley. The 1/2 day trips specialize in bass, barracuda, rock fish, and halibut, but there are many times a year that White Seabass and Yellowtail can be taken from inshore along the coast. This vessel frequently doubles as a whale watching charter vessel.


The Aggressor is Newport Landing Sportfishing's main overnight open party and private charter vessel; it runs daily open party overnight trips unless private charters are scheduled. The Aggressor takes anglers on island freelance trips to target Yellowtail and White Seabass, and offshore for Albacore Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, and Dorado. The Aggressor is 65' X 19', fishes up to 48 anglers, and sleeps up to 25 on overnight trips. It hosts a full 40 scoop bait tank and operates with a full galley. It sits low to the water which makes it a comfortable fishing platform and a smooth ride. If you're after bigger game fish, the Aggressor is your boat!


The Amigo runs both open party and private charters on the regular. On occassion, the Amigo will run incredible limited load open party trips to Catalina Is., San Clemente Is., and even the Outer Banks. The Amigo is a 60 foot vessel that accomodates up to 48 anglers. It incorporates a 40 scoop bait tank and has one of the best full service galley's around. It's technologically up-to-date with all featured electronics including sonar! The crew of the Amigo along with Captain Mike Thompson, will be sure to produce a quality fishing trip everytime.

Nice. I like Newport Landing, and for those of you that need it, there's a coffee shop next door that's open when the landing is open and a pizza shop around the corner. The captains really do work hard for your fish...I remember when Brian graduated from school and got the Ultra...I missed out on his inaugural trip.

It's funny, I've spent some time on the water with John, Brian (not too much), and Robbie (and even impersonated Robbie at one point) yet I'm willing to bet that they won't remember me...my face maybe....I've even helped scrub and been yelled at ...but if I say one name, they'll all go "ahhh, okay, he's the one that used to wear that gay looking green and white striped thing" Needless to say, I usually stay "Lo pro." (Low Profile) most of the time
