Doheny Bonfire Report 6/25

I think that everyone had a very fun day yesterday. Nick, Alex, and I had a sleepover at my house, and we got up early to get a bonfire pit at Doheny. Nick and I bought some squid at the tackle shop in the harbor, and started to do some fishing. Alex went to go fish the jetty, and Nick went to go fish from shore. Well, I had to stay behind to watch the stuff. Nick fished for about an hour, and he caught 1 baby leapord shark about 14 in.

After that, a MOB of surfers came, and it was almost impossible to fish anywhere. So Nick decided to go fish the jetty with Alex at Noon. Right as he left, Tony (L@gunaBe@chBum) came from basketball practice, and we hung out.

At 2:30, Tony and I swam to the jetty from the beach, and greeted Nick and Alex. They caught one nice sized corbina (about 2 pounds) and a lot of small perch-like fish.

At 3:30, Matt and his friend Paul came. Nick and Alex just came back, and they all decided to go surf fishing a little distance from the bonfire. Of course, I had to stay behind to watch the bonfire pit. Nick caught another leapord on squid, and a spotfin croaker. Alex hooked up with a lot of perch, and caught a pretty big one. Matt's friend Paul caught 1 small leapord.

At about 7, Jon showed up with his girlfriend Merrit (HookUpGirl). Then James and Bryson showed. After that, we all came in we fished untill 10:00, and ate inbetween. At night, everyone was getting hit. James caught a leapord and a small sand bass. Jon caught a small round stingray. I finally got to fish, and I caught a Sargo. I think a few more people caught some perch. Near the end of the night, Jon got a HUGE bite that peeled line off his reel. It got away though.

If i forgot to mention someone who caught a fish, please mention it.

Overall, I think everyone had a great day!

Yea, a few people did get skunked. I think the problem was they were fishing too heavy line. However, I did catch 1on 20, so mabye that wasnt the problem. I think it was mainly the rig choice.
