LagunaBeachBum is looking for a new reel. i found this on ebay. What do you think? He is looking for a good, easy reel to cast, and something that will work for mainly bass.

Tony is relatively new to saltwater fishing so I don't think that reel would be ideal for him. He needs something that he can use for more than just bass and that will hold more line. Like I said, I can get him a good deal. Here's the reels I have in mind.

Okuma Convector 30

Daiwa Millionaire S300

I think either of these would work well for what Tony will be doing. At least initially until he starts going out more often and has a need for more variety. If it was me and I was only going to have 1, I would go with the Okuma because it can hold more line and it can be used for more types of fishing. The larger handle makes it easier to work with when you're down 100 - 150 feet or even more. I've fished it in 300+ for rockfish before and it worked well. Let me know which one you're interested in and I'll let you know what kind of discount I can give you.

Hmmm. I actually like those two reels jon. I think I might buy one of those lol.

I think tony is going to want the Okuma. They're both casting reels right?

I'm looking at the Daiwa. How much of a deal are you talking about Jon?

Good Choice for him if he's just doing bass(I'm assuming freshwater, right)! Would have liked to see at least 5 ball bearings, but it's a good medium rated reel. I do; like the other guys, think it's a bit pricey, although the ad says it's never been used. Plus, there are standardized reels out there, meaning reels thay he could use for more than one type of fishing or application, unless he's got the money to buy a reel for every specific type of fishing that he does. i don't know, I've got mixed feelings on that reel.

when i bought my new reel i looked at the Catala and the daiwa millionare, both were rated for 20# test and the millionare just didnt feel good, so i bought the catala, but it isnt an extrordanary reel either.
