If you email me your fax number I can fax you the entry forms...I'll PM you my email...Jon and I will be winging it as far as whether to come back Saturday night or stay 'til Sunday morning, fish a bit, then head home after lunch. If we decide to stay overnight, you might need a sleeping bag and a tarp or tent (I plan on sleeping in my car if I have to...I snore very loudly). It will be my "compact" jeep so there won't be much room for gear, so pack lightly unless you plan on driving. I actually have to figure out if there will be room for a third person's gear.
The entry fee is $80.00, T-Shirt is another $15.00, you have to get it to them by Wed at the latest so you have to send it off as soon as you get it.
It will be a zoo out on the water, you have to have an 18" or bigger fish to get it measured...I'd recommend a deeper basket net than what you probably already have...someone has lost a fish that was too large for their net while the judges boat was only a few feet away. If I guess things correctly, because of the fishing pressure, three good fish will get you into the prize circle (top ten) and if we all score pretty high as a team (I'm not sure about the team details...it looks like a two person team, the tournament director is out of town for another tournament and his backup in the office hasn't returned my call yet), the top three teams also get prizes, but the party starts AFTER the tournament winner gets his prize (a kyak was thrown in at the last minute in 2004).
Since it IS Crowley, my main plan of attack is midging with beadheads (Chironomids), the exact same stuff that works at LNL...this is why I told Tony that I like fishing LNL, I consider it practice and it has helped in several places. So you'll need a floating line with a foam indicator...I tend to custom make them, but if you can get a "Pop top", those are easier to use. After that, the best ones are the football shaped "froghair" indicators in medium to large size, but I rig them differently than the manufacturer recommends. If you do decide to submit the entry form, I'll email you more details. The large indicators may seem too large until the wind kicks up and the waves start.
You'll need an anchor for your float tube (a 3-5# rock cod weight works well, I usually use 3#, but I may upgrade to 5#...I'm not sure yet). One fly rod with floating line, indicator and some flouro leader (don't buy any until you talk to me). If you already have a sinking line, a full sink in T-II or T-III is good. If you don't have one you can use a sink tip leader, I can loan you one. And you'll need your paddling legs...the paddle out can be brutal, especially if the wind kicks up...and if the water clears up (one good cold spell will do it) we'll have to move out to 20 ft deep water, which can be about 200 yds out in one bay.
They have stocked the lake with smaller trout since I last fished it, but the areas that we will be fishing, the stockers tend to avoid, for some reason. I'm going to get a report from someone on Friday on the lake conditions. I'm actually hoping that the agae bloom stays on the lake and actually covers the water in the North Arm...I can catch fish under those conditions and most of the other guys won't be able to (good old LNL

people laughed when I said the LNL water conditions at times was good because the visibility improved to a foot

).
As an aside, friend of mine will be in the Mammoth area this weekend so I'll find out on Monday how he did there.
