Kayakers get-together
There seems to be a good number of new kayakers. Maybe we could plan a get-together at Dana, Newport,Long Beach or pick a spot that is convenient to the majority. Any suggestions, date, time and place. It only takes two and you have a get-together.Lets meet and catch some fish and have some fun.

If I had a Yak, I'd definitely wanna do this. You definitely need Kevin (Yuckster) to go with you guys on this one. We don't call him "Yak'fish Digity" for nothin'

Hey Al, if you have room I would personally get the Ocean Kayak 15. From what I hear, it makes a huge difference in speed and cargo! Sport Chalet has about 5 different kinds of fishing kayak....
If you want a custom Kayak I highly recommend Taylor Tackle in Canoga Park. They make custom yaks made to order: GPS, fish finders, anchors, rudders, crab nets, live wells, etc whatever you can think off they can make put it in your kayak but it looks like thay might be a way from where you live!
Regarding location, how about Dana Point something in October. I like the 14th say around 7AM?

Hi Rookie and anyone reading this and might be interested in getting together. I was thinking Oct.7 is a better day. acually launching on the 6th about 8:00pm and fishing for lobster. Sat. is the opener. Launch Fri. about 8:00pm,That leaves plenty of time to get where you plan on fishing for lobster. We start fishing at 12:00 Midnight.
If anyone wants to get together before the 7th lets plan something.

I was looking for a Kayak after becoming interested in one for lake use and around Dana Point since I fish there alot. Hopefully I can pick one up before the Kayak meet up. I was looking for a 1 person Kayak "something I could fit in a Toyota Pickup"and so far have been checking REI, Sport Chalet, and the Recycler and garage sales every weekend. Does anyone have any shops or stores they might recommend I take a look into for a Kayak?
Any info is much appreciated, thanks!

Here is one that also sells used kayaks. They are very knowledgable:
Xstreamline Sports
1861 N Gaffey St. Suite I
San Pedro CA 90731
Yet another (also sells used kayak)
Action Watersports 4144 Lincoln Blvd.
Marina del Rey, Ca 90291
If you can make it to San Diego Check this place out!
Aqua Adventures Kayak Center
1548 Quivira Way
San Diego, CA 92109
I think they are selling a used Prowler 13 for $532!

For all you wantabees. Not sure how you spell that ward....one-a-bees.So Much for that.If you are planning to buy a kayak make sure to buy a major brand, not an off brand, if you do you will regret it. West Marine has a cheap kayak, but the key word here is cheap. You would be better off buying a good used one. If you have any doubts, about a brand get on here and ask.Someone will help.

Id go with a hobie if you can afford its what i use and theyre very easy to fish from because they are pedal driven so youre hands are free to fish so you can troll and cast with a rod in your hands while still moving I would definetly be interested in a kayak event or tourney and im probably going to fish the evening high tide in dp harbor on saturday if anyones interested
