I just ran across your web page and wanted to let you know about our youth fishing program.
We have a youth fishing program is for boy’s ages 14 to 18 who love to fish or just want to learn to fish. The boys are a part of a crew of a 40’ fishing boat. The program is limited to boys only due to restrictions from the Boy Scouts of America. This is not a charter boat with deck hands to wait on you, the boys are the deck hands, doing the fish cleaning, boat cleaning and taking anchor watch at night. Our year round program allows boys the opportunity to will learn to operate a 40-foot sport fisher while learning piloting skills, fish finding, navigation, boat maintenance, and fishing techniques by expert fisherman. We have several trips a month from 1 to 5 days, targeting Bass, Yellowtail, Tuna and Sharks. The Westwind II is a youth fishing program run out of the Newport Sea Base. This program is part of the Explorer Scout‘s of the Boy Scouts of America, There are also several other boats at the Sea Base for boys and girls but they are for those interested in sailing. Believe it or not we have a difficult time finding young men interested in this program. I know I would have given my right arm at 14 for a program like this. We have been in operation for ten years now. I would like to talk to you about helping us with promoting this program through your web site. We would like to invite you to come down and check it out to see what we have to offer. You can come to one of our monthly meetings and meet the crew or go fishing with us on a one day trip. We are leaving tonight Thursday June 24th. for a 3 day trip to target tuna and yellow tail. We are taking 5 boys and 3 adults.
Please feel free to call me any time.
