Talking Corbina Report *Photos Added*

Started fishing at a grey light today. My plan was to only fish for corbina I could see. At 5:30am I spot one and cast to it. 30 seconds later I beach a small 14''er. Not what I expected but it's ok. After that I walked and walked the beach seeing only small ones that I would pass up. Right when I thought that today was not going to be the day I spook 3 nice ones. Right away I pin on a crab and hookup big time. When I set the hook I looked at my watch so I could time the fight. The fish was at least 25'', I would get her in close and she would run everytime. After 7 minutes into the fight the hook pops off. So far, today was not my day. So I walked some more until I find a good number of scattered groups of corbina. My first fish in this spot was 23'', my biggest of the year so far. From then on fishing was awsome.
I caught 10 Corbina;6'',7''9'',14''19''20'',20.5''21'',22'',an d 23''. I've never caught so many dinks and big ones on the same day like this. My target was only corbina but when ever I would cast in deep water I caught a perch every time. I caught 4 barred perch and 4 walleyes as a bycatch. I know that if I targeted perch it would have been wide open on hand sized fish. Left the beach at 11am simply because I was cold and hungery and the fish were still biting.

Where do you fish at. Fished Bolsa and caught a baby lepord shark on a sand crab. There were a lot of sand crabs which is unusual for Bolsa.

I was fishing a LA County beach, north of Redondo. I'll put up a couple pics in about a week.

Yes the sand crabs are those little critters in the sand where the water meets the shore. I can see the corbina come up to the shore and feed on the crabs in less then a ft of water. Sometimes I can also see them swimming along the beach on the inside troughs. Fished today again for 8 corbina. I'll post a full report and pics tonight.
