Lake of the Ozarks/Bagnell Dam

I just spoke with a friend of mine who has spent the last few nights fishing below Bagnell Dam at Lake of the Ozarks. They have been catching some blue and channel cats up to 30# on shad and sunfish. No big flatheads, yet. He also reported seeing several bigeye carp, up to about 20#, being caught by people fishing for hybrid stripers. The wipers are sporadic at this time, but the whites are biting fairly well at night. The cats and whites are being caught on the power plant side of the dam, the carp on the campground side. Paddlefish are being caught in great numbers by anyone using lures. They are getting snagged in passing. Paddlefish are out of season right now, so all are released. They also picked up quite a few black drum, while catfishing.

Anyone interested in coming out here to fish is more than welcome. If you are seriously considering coming out, PM me and we'll set something up. This is pretty much an open invite to people here on Hookup, btw

It still blows me away, Darren, that the Paddlefish hit lures!

We'll be hookin 'em up in October my friend. Can't wait to get there!

Many of them get snagged across the paddle. But I have caught way too many with the lure IN the mouth to be coincidence. And we will be slaying all kinds of fish in Oct. River smallie bite is usually still really good in Oct, too. My ex-wife has agreed to us using her canoes and john boat, too. Nothing like a good float trip with friends to make your day better.

WHoooo, how big's the John Boat? A drift trip sounds great.

I think it is either 12' or 14'. Perfect for the river, or lake.
