ISLAND POINT LODGE - Petersburg, Alaska
.
.

.
.
Island Point Lodge is located outside of Petersburg, Alaska in Wrangell Narrows on the island of Kupreanof, opposite Mitkof Island, approximately 14 miles from the town of Petersburg, AK. They offer a fantastic week of salmon and halibut fishing at an affordable price.
You will be fishing the beautiful waters of the Alaskan Inland Seaway, which include Ducan Canal, Frederick Sound, Wrangell Narrows and Sumner Straights. The trip will provide you with the opportunity to catch the fish of your dreams. Island Point is what some may call a "Semi-Self Service Lodge" which allows you the ability to operate the water vessels, explore and fish the entire immediate region unrestricted (though professional and experienced fishng guides are available for hire).

The length of the trip is approximately 9 days, portal to portal. The trip includes 7 days and 6 nights at Island Point Lodge, and one day each way for air travel. Arrival day is Saturday and departure day is the following Friday
Island Point Lodge can offer you a complete Salmon and Halibut fishing trip. It is important to understand that this is called a "fishing trip", not a "catching trip". There will be times when large schools of fish will arrive creating a catching frenzy. At other times it will be fishing as usual, meaning you have to work at it.

Species that are more commonly available for target at Island Point Lodge are the giant Pacific Halibut, and various Salmon Species such as - King Salmon(Chinook), Chum Salmon(Dog), Red Salmon(Sockeye), Pink Salmon(Humpies), & Silver Salmon(Coho), as well as, Cutthroat Trout,
Dolly Varden and Steelhead in the local streams and rivers. (Please check the Island Point Lodge website for official run dates for each fish species)
.
Island Point Lodge personnel will guide you to some of the rivers which are active with salmon and trout. The fishing hours are unlimited, not like those of guided camps where fishing times are scheduled! Trolling for some salmon species is done directly in front of the lodge. This allows the fisherman an opportunity to fish from dawn (3 or 6 am) until breakfast, which are sometimes the most productive hours for fishing. Within five to forty five minutes from the lodge there are several rivers offering the spinner, caster and fly fisherman the opportunity to catch one or more of several species of salmon and trout.

The lodge is set up for the experienced fisherman with knowledge in operating outboard motors on small crafts. The crafts are 18 foot Aluminum Alaskan Lunds with outboard motors operated from a side console. The operators must have the knowledge and the ability to read nautical maps.
A boat, and the appropriate equipment will be assigned to you and your party. The operator must have some experience in operating boats with outboard motors. Thier boats have two motors, the larger motor for general movement and the smaller motor for trolling. Boats are equipped with safety vests, coast guard approved emergency kits, ropes, anchors, oars, pails, bait containers, and lunch coolers.
The lodge has a charter boat available for halibut and salmon fishing and will provide halibut and salmon charters in salt water for an additional charge. Fly-In charters offer fantastic rainbow trout fishing in several pristine mountain lakes.
